Begin the tour at the great clay and adobe pyramid of Huaca Pucllana located in the Miraflores district of central Lima, built from seven platforms. It served as an important ceremonial center between the years of 200AD and 700AD. The structure is surrounded by a plaza, or central square, that borders the outer limits and small clay adobe huts. | Visit to one of the oldest taverns and best-loved huariques (hidden nooks where food is served) in Lima. We begin in the Main Square at Cordano’s Tavern, to sample the fresh-baked bread and locally cured ham. This traditional bar & restaurant opened in 1905 and it has been the haunt of numerous politicians and other important figures in Peru. Our discovery continues with a stop at Queirolo to sample Mussels a la Chalaca and taste the establishment’s famous Pisco Sour. Founded in 1880 in the Pueblo Libre district by an Italian immigrant to Peru, Santiago Queirolo Raggio, the Antigua Taberna Queirolo is believed to be one of the oldest restaurants in Peru; as you walk in, you immediately notice many of the details have not changed over the hundred-plus years it has been open. This is one of those places where people come over a lifetime to eat, drink, and spend long afternoons lost in conversation. After the visit, return to the hotel.
