SAN JOSE  | You arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica. Upon arrival, you are met by your LATOUR representative. Transfer to the Ramada Plaza Herradura Hotel in San Jose. The evening is at leisure to rest and refresh. Overnight San Jose.

ARENAL VOLCANO: THE MOUNTAIN OF FIRE  | This morning, you travel to the Arenal Volcano region. In La Fortuna, we admire the views of the Arenal Volcano, which towers over the town. We check into our hotel. The evening is at leisure to enjoy the hot springs overlooking the volcano. Overnight at the Royal Corin Hotel at the Arenal Volcano. (B) |
ARENAL VOLCANO: HIKING  | This morning, you are met by our guide and depart the hotel for the nearby Arenal Volcano. Long believed to be just a mountain, this changed when the purported mountain erupted in July 1968. We take a thrilling hike through the national park that surrounds this active volcano. You will see up close the areas destroyed by the 1968 eruption, as well as the forest through which lava flowed. After hiking so near the “Mountain of Fire,” return to your hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the Royal Corin Hotel at the Arenal Volcano. (B) |
ARENAL VOLCANO: FLOATING RAINFOREST SAFARI  | This morning, you drive through the Northern Plains to Los Chiles, a village near the Nicaraguan border. At Los Chiles, you will board a boat and take a river safari through the rainforest. You will see many endangered birds and, if you are patient, Howler and Spider Monkeys, as well as sloths! During the bus ride and safari we will enjoy local cookies and juices. Return to the riverbank, where you will share a traditional Costa Rican lunch, complete with local fruits and beverages. In the afternoon, return to your hotel. Overnight at the Royal Corin Hotel at the Arenal Volcano. (B, L) |
THE NICOYA PENINSULA  | This morning, descend to the Northern Plains, traveling along the Pacific coast. Cross the Nicoya Gulf on a ferry before arriving at your beautiful beach resort on the pristine Nicoya Peninsula. This evening, enjoy a dinner together at our hotel. Overnight at the Tango Mar Resort on Quizales Beach. (B, D) |
Days 6-8: THE NICOYA PENINSULA: ENJOY THE BEACH  | Today is at leisure to enjoy some of the most pristine and beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. You may choose to take advantage of the many optional tours available to you (not included) or simply relax and enjoy the sun, sand and surf on the beach. Overnight at the Tango Mar Resort on Quizales Beach. (B) |
SAN JOSE  | This morning, drive through the mountains and the Central Valley on our way back to San Jose. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. The evening is at leisure for last minute shopping and exploration. You may choose to dine at one of the city’s many fabulous restaurants. Overnight at the Ramada Plaza Herradura Hotel in San Jose. DEPARTURE  | This morning, we transfer to the airport, where we board our flight to the United States, arriving home later the same day. (B)
