Morning flight from Quito to Coca over the Eastern Andes Mountains. Upon arrival, board a motorized canoe for a 2-hour cruise on the Napo River – you’ll be able to spot many species of birds along the way. Box lunch is provided en route. Then, continue the journey by a dugout canoe, paddling along a narrow creek covered by lush jungle foliage. See the breathtaking views of Anangu Lake as you arrive at the Lodge. After dinner, join the optional Cayman spotting cruise around the lake. (L, D)

Early morning excursion to the best Parrot Clay Lick in Ecuador, where a total of 11 species of parrots, parakeets and macaws may be seen. Later, hike along a forest trail to the Quichua Indian community of Añangu and to the second Parrot Clay Lick with an abundance of birds. Box lunch at the Parrot Clay Lick observatory. Late afternoon return to the lodge. (B, BXL, D)
Napo Wildlife Center
Early departure from the Lodge to the center’s Canopy Tower, rising over 110 feet over the jungle floor. The Tower offers a spectacular look at the “high life” of the forest. As you ascend the tower, you’ll pass through different levels of the forest and emerge on top of a huge Ceiba tree. From here you can experience a view formerly reserved only for the birds. Flocks of colorful birds pass through the canopy of the trees while Spider Monkeys search for fruit, all oblivious to your presence. Afternoon hike on the nature trail in the primary forest. Then, look for Giant Otters while exploring the lake and creeks by dugout canoe. (B, L, D)

The lodge complex is located by the Anangucocha lake, within the unique ancestral territory of the Anangu Quichua Community, part of the Yasuni National Park. In the early 90’ the community envisioned building their own lodge to provide themselves jobs and protecting their land. With great effort they built back then 4 well established shelters and a large house for kitchen and dining room, however buildings remained incomplete there at that early stage for many years as they had no more money to finish them or to establish a proper infrastructure to call it a first class jungle hotel. They wanted high quality facilities and accommodations, to provide an exclusive and personalized rain forest experience, intimate with nature, under a dedicated private and unique lodge, but only to a selected number of guests.
